The Ultimate Guide to Repurposing Social Media Content In 2023
We all put a lot of time, effort and energy into creating our content, and it can feel a little overwhelming that we have to continually create net new content for every platform, day after day. But what if there was a better way to maximize the value of your content? Here's how you can turn one piece of content into many posts. Let's get into it.

First, let's say you start with a full piece of video content, for example, a 10-minute YouTube video. You'll have the first piece of content that can be distributed on multiple platforms in full - YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter (if you have Twitter Blue) and even Instagram as a full-length video. That's 5 posts from the one video.
Next, you can chop that video up into a series of shorter, vertical videos for use on Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Pinterest. Depending on the topic, you may be able to get 5 short videos out of a 10-minute full-length video. For example, if your main video is something like "5 Tips to do X", you can create a short video for each tip, generating 5 pieces of content across 5 platforms - that's 25 posts.
Next, you can turn your main video into Carousel posts. So if you take your "5 Tips to do X" video, you can create a Carousel or slideshow post that has one tip on each slide, along with a cover image and a final image with CTAs to follow you, sign up for your newsletter or anything else you want your audience to do. These Carousel posts can be posted on Instagram of course, but also on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter as a thread. That's 4 more posts across 4 platforms.
Next, you can create a blog post for the main video on your website - like we’re doing right here. It could be a short write-up with the embed of your YouTube video, or it could be a complete transcript of your video, with the video embedded at the end (whether it be from YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram). This is fantastic for SEO, and it drives traffic from your website to your other social platforms to help them grow. That's another post racked up.
If you have Pinterest, you can post pins that redirect to your other posts, say your blog or YouTube video, which will complement the video pins you posted with the vertical videos. This will keep the content alive in another format, just be sure to use fresh thumbnails every time so as not to repeat yourself on your board, and to encourage people to click. If you link out to your blog, that's one more post, but you can also choose to do a pin with a new thumbnail for each social post, which will add up even more.
So in total, we're looking at a minimum of 36 posts across 6 platforms just from one video, with the potential for more on Pinterest, not to mention reposting the content in future, which is key especially if it's evergreen. Get creating!
